The Village Of Moreac

A leisurely 10 - 15 minute stroll from the Gites will take you to the picturesque village of Moreac. Should you prefer to drive to the village, there is free parking both around the church and in the village car parks

The village is centred around the church and has all the amenities for your needs during your stay

With 3 bars there is plenty of choice for somewhere to sit and enjoy a coffee or something stronger on those warm summer evenings.

There is also a restaurant serving food both during the day and evening.

Within the village there is a small supermarket and a corner shop both selling groceries, postcards etc. There is also a post office, butchers, 3 bakeries, 2 hairdressers a beauty salon and a pharmacy.

There is a doctor and a dentist in the village. A cash point is located in the centre, which accepts many cards, including Visa (and instructions are also in English, which helps!!)

Leisure / Sport Activities  

Village Lake

The village has a lovely lake (Plan d'eau) with gardens and paths all around as well as picnic benches and play equipment for the children.

Fishing

The village lake is well stocked with fish (so you should catch something!) You do need a permit to fish; these are available for a small charge from the local bar (see below). For the more serious fisherman, there are some well stocked carp lakes around as well as fishing on the Nantes / Brest canal. So perhaps you could spend a day fishing while the family relax at the Gites.

2008 - Licence prices

Annual (01-01-08 to 31-12-08) - Adult 68 euros, Wife 30 euros!

Annual (01-01-08 to 31-12-08) - Children up to 12 years 2 euros

Annual (01-01-08 to 31-12-08) - Children 12 to 18 years 10 euros

15 Consecutive days - Adult 30 euros (No reduction for children so best to get an annual licence)

1 day - Adult 10 euros (No reduction for children so best to get an annual licence)

These licences are for use in department 56 Morbihan, on Cat 1 and Cat 2 waters (Rivers, Canals and Lakes), also other departments are possible with no charge or extra charge depending on type of licence held. Please ask for more details

No additional charge for fishing public waters including Canals

Boules

There are regular boules competitions in the village and the boules pitches are available for the public to use free of charge.

Football

The village has its own football team and stadium. Matches are played on Sunday afternoons and are free for children to watch.

Tennis

There are tennis courts situated near the football stadium, tennis Courts are available for the public to use free of charge.

(You will need to check availablitiy and collect a key from the Mairie's, and a card which we can lend you)

PS you will need to bring your own balls and rackets.

If you are a keen bird watcher or just interested in general wildlife Le Grange Gites is ideally located.

5 Minutes from the village is the larger town of Locmine , which you may find convenient for any other holiday needs. Here you will find 3 large supermarkets, banks, petrol stations, restaurants and bars. There is a cinema, heated public pool and "Kevin's” which is a bowling complex that also has pool tables, video games, air hockey, darts and a bar. The town has a traditional market on a Thursday morning. Mini golf is available at the lake in Locmine.
